GUWAHATI, Dec 10: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today hit out at a section of former leaders of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) for “surrendering before the Congress” for vested interests.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma was speaking at a function organized by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at Dhekiajuli to pay tributes to the martyrs of the Assam Agitation on the occasion of Swahid Diwas.
“A section of people, particularly former leaders of the AASU, are surrendering themselves before the Congress party. They have forgotten that it’s the same Congress party which had trained bullets on 855 martyrs of Assam Agitation. They forgot that it was Indira Gandhi who had ordered the killing of the martyrs,” Chief Minister Sarma said.
Chief Minister Sarma further stated that it’s for the Congress party that 12 districts of the State have become minority dominated.
