GUWAHATI, Dec 8: Australia defeated India by 10 wickets in the second test of the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Adelaide to level the series at 1-1.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins took five wickets while Scott Boland scalped three and first innings star Michell Starc took two to skittle out the visitors for 175 runs in their second innings meaning the hosts needed just 19 runs to restore parity.

The Australian openers took just 3.2 overs to reach the target.

Travis Head who had scored 140 runs in Australia’s first innings to set the foundation for the 300-plus score was named Player of the Match.

India had won the first test at Perth by 295 runs but the loss at Adelaide will mean the series is all but open and that the visitors will have to put go all guns blazing in the three subsequent Tests of the series to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The third Test will be played at The Gabba in Brisbane from Dec 14.

Brief Scores:

India: 180 all out & 175 all out.

Australia: 337 all out & 19/0.
