Five newly-elected MLAs take oath as members of Assam Legislative Assembly

GUWAHATI, Nov 29: The five newly-elected MLAs who won the by-elections, results of which were declared on Nov 23, were administered the oath as members of Assam Legislative Assembly today.

Diplu Ranjan Sarmah of BJP who won from Samaguri, Diganta Ghatowal (BJP) winning from Behali, Nihar Ranjan Das (BJP) who won from Dholai, Diptimoyee Choudhury (AGP) who won from Bongaigaon, and Nirmal Kumar Brahma (UPPL) who got elected from Sidli were administered the oath as MLAs by Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma at a function at the Assam Assembly today.

The BJP and it’s allies had won all five seats in the by-polls which were held on Nov 13 while the Congress party drew a blank, even losing Samaguri which it held since 2001.
