Grit and determination of athletes hog limelight on Day 2 of 1st NE Para Sports Meet

GUWAHATI, Nov 28: After a stunning and spectacular opening ceremony of the 1st North East Para Sports Meet 2024, at the Sarusajai Stadium yesterday, the action boiled down to the main events that got underway at the three venues — Sarusajai Stadium, Udayachal, and Vandya International School in Amingaon.

The Boccia event went underway at Udayachal with athletes not just competing to become winners but making it a fun-filled affair.

The para-swimming, para-badminton and para-table tennis events got underway at Vandya International School at 3 pm as the athletes showcased their passion, skill, and sportsmanship.

On the other hand, the para athletics events were held at Sarusajai Stadium.

The 3-day tournament is being hosted by Udayachal, a unit of the Jadav Chandra Bhuyan Memorial Trust working for inclusive & holistic development of children with special needs, in association with the Paralympics Association of Assam and under the aegis of the Paralympic Committee of India.

Incidentally, the State winning the highest number of medals will be awarded the Jadav Chandra Bhuyan Special trophy.

Earlier on Monday, the mascot of the event named Puhor, the jersey and the Jadav Chandra Bhuyan Special trophy were launched during a special event held at Udayachal which was attended by Pride East CMD Riniki Bhuyan Sharma and Syed Zarir Hussain, among other dignitaries.
