GUWAHATI, Nov 26: After the Mahayuti alliance comprising BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led faction of Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction swept the assembly elections in Maharashtra, the question that is now being asked is who will become the new chief minister of the State.
Reports said the BJP wants Fadnavis to be made chief minister and he is reportedly getting the backing of the RSS. Shinde, on the other hand, is hoping Prime Minister Narendra Modi will bless him with the CM’s post for the second time.
Shiv Sena MPs, reports said, have sought an appointment with Prime Minister Modi to request him to allow Shinde to continue as Chief Minister for another term.
Amid the permutations and combinations, Eknath Shinde and his deputies – Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar – tendered their resignation today.
