GUWAHATI, Nov 24: India are in cruise control of the first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Perth as they look to script history against hosts Australia and win their first Test in the Australian city which, as things stand now, seems almost absolutely certain.
Virat Kohli ended his lean patch in red ball matches and slammed his 30th Test century before stand-in Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah declared the second innings at 487 for 6 and setting a target of 534 runs for Australia.
If the mammoth target was not enough, the hosts lost three quick wickets — Bumrah picking up two while Siraj scalped one — to face an almost improbable task on Day 4 tomorrow.
Earlier in the morning, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed his maiden century in Australia on his debut test on Australian soil making a magnificent 161 while KL Rahul missed his ton after getting out for 77.
Brief Scores:
India: 150 all out & 487/6 declared
Australia: 104 all out & 12/3
