GUWAHATI, Nov 23: BJP candidate Nihar Ranjan Das kept the saffron party’s flag flying high in Dholai defeating his Congress rival Dhrubajyoti Purkayastha by a margin of 9,098 votes.
On the other hand, UPPL’s Nirmal Kumar Brahma defeated BPF candidate Suddho Basumatary by a massive margin of 37,016 votes to bag the Sidli seat.
BJP candidate Diganta Ghatowal had earlier defeated his Congress rival Jayanta Bora by a margin of 9,051 votes in Behali while AGP candidate Diptimoyee Choudhury — wife of former 8-time Bongaigaon MLA Phani Bhushan Choudhury — defeated Congress candidate Brajenjit Singha by over 35 thousand votes in Bongaigaon.
In Samaguri, Diplu Ranjan Sarmah of the BJP scripted history by wresting the seat from Congress defeating Tanzil Hussain, son of former MLA and ex-Minister Rakibul Hussain.
