GUWAHATI, Nov 23: The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is heading towards a landslide victory in Maharashtra and has crossed the 200 mark in the 288-member State assembly.
The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has been decimated in the elections, as trends and leads project the NDA to seep the elections and return to power for a second straight term.
While the BJP is leading in at least 118 seats, the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena is ahead in 56 seats while the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP is leading in 37 seats.
On the other hand, the Congress party is ahead in just 22 seats while the Uddhav Thakre led Shiv Sena faction is leading in 19 seats. NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction, the third constituent of the MVA, is ahead in 11 seats.
Smaller parties are ahead in 18 seats as per leads as on 10:30 am.
