Three dead, 9 admitted to hospital after ammonia gas leak at fertiliser plant in Maharashtra

GUWAHATI, Nov 22: At least three persons, including two women, died and nine others admitted to hospital following ammonia gas leak triggered by a blast at a fertiliser plant in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, reports said.

While the two woman who died were workers, the third was a security guard employed at the plant.

The incident had taken place at the Myanmar Chemical Company in Kadegaon tehsil of the district, news agency PTI reported.

A reactor at the fertiliser plant exploded releasing chemical fumes, reports further stated, and 12 who were affected by the gar leak were rushed to hospital immediately.

The nine affected people are being treated under the supervision of doctors.
