GUWAHATI, Nov 22: A father-daughter duo was killed on the spot after they were knocked down by a speeding bus trying to overtake another vehicle. The accident took place on the national highway 17 near Nityabazar this morning.
Nasrullah Ahmed, a teacher by profession, was taking his daughter Sahnaj, a student of St. Francis De Sales School, Bahalpur, to school when the over-speeding bus trying to overtake another vehicle rammed into the motorcycle killing both father and daughter on the spot.
An angry mob which gathered there set the bus on fire.
Senior police and district administration officials arrived at the accident spot and brought things under control.
People also blocked the highway for sometime demanding measures to control speeding vehicles.
