GUWAHATI, Nov 20: The Manipur Government today extended the suspension of mobile internet services in seven districts for three more days as the State gradually limps back to normal after violence kept the entire state on tenterhooks.
While both broadband and mobile internet services were suspended for two days on Nov 16, the suspension of mobile internet was extended for two more days on Monday and extended for another three days today in seven districts, including the Meitei-majority Imphal East and West and the Kuki-Zo-dominated Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts, following the violence.
“The state government, after reviewing the prevailing law and order situation, decided to continue the suspension of mobile Internet services in the territorial jurisdiction of Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi of Manipur for another three days,” an order issued by the State government said.
Meanwhile, the Centre has decided to send 50 additional companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) following the unrest and violence.
