GUWAHATI, Nov 18: Jasprit Bumrah will lead India in the first test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Series in Perth in Rohit Sharma’s absence with KL Rahul, who has declared himself fit, is expected to fill in the shoes of the regular skipper as an opener.
Rahul’s participation was also in doubt after he suffered a blow in his elbow during practice but has recovered to start.
Rahul’s recovery assumes tremendous significance in the wake of batter Shubman Gill sidelined due to a thumb fracture.
While the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar series will begin at the Optus Stadium, Perth, on Nov 22, the second Test will get underway in Adelaide on Dec 6.
