GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Republican candidate and former US President Donald Trump is inching closer to becoming the President of the United States of America for the second time having taken a massive lead over his Democratic party rival and present Vice-President Kamala Harris.
Needing 270 electoral votes for victory, Trump has crossed the 200-mark with projections showing him ahead in several key states, results of which will determine the final winner.
Donald Trump has won North Carolina, the first crucial swing state, according to projections by the Associated Press.
He has also won in Idaho which has four electoral votes and is also reported to have won Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris won in California, Oregon and has been projected to take Washington.
Donald Trump has won 230 electoral votes to 205 won by Kamala Harris as of projections received at 10:30 IST.
