GUWAHATI, Oct 28: Dutchman Erik ten Hag has been sacked as Manchester United manager following Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League defeat at West Ham United, the club announced on Monday.

United, after Sunday’s loss, are 14th in the table with just 11 points from nine matches.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future,” United said in a statement on Monday, and added: “Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”
