GUWAHATI, Oct 27: It’s a Diwali bonanza for Assam Government employees. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that State Government employees will get a 3% hike in dearness awareness in line with their central government counterparts.
The Assam cabinet cleared the raise at its weekly meeting which was chaired by Chief Minister Sarma at Janata Bhawan.
Addressing media persons after the meeting concluded, Chief Minister Sarma said State Government will also enjoy a DA hike of 3 per cent which will come into retrospective effect from July this year..
The hike in dearness allowance, Chief Minister Sarma said, will get reflected in the salaries for the month of November which the employees will receive on December 1.
The arrear amount will be paid in instalments, he further announced.
Following today’s hike, the Dearness Allowance of State Government employees will increase to 53%, equivalent to what central government employees are paid.
