GUWAHATI, Oct 23: Diganta Ghatowar, BJP candidate from Behali for the Nov 13 by-polls, filed his nomination papers today.
Ghatowar was accompanied by a host of top BJP leaders, including former Behali MLA and present Lok Sabha MP Ranjit Dutta, ministers Pijush Hazarika and Sanjoy Kisan, MLA Diganta Kalita, Kaziranga MP Kamakhya Prasad Tassa, State BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, among others, when he filed his nomination papers.
“I am going to win by a massive margin. People will vote for us in large numbers,” Ghatowar said after filing his nomination papers.
The Opposition, meanwhile, is yet to announce its party candidate from Behali with Friday being the last date for filing of nominations. Differences between constituents of the Opposition Assam Sonmilita Morcha, incidentally, have reached such a level that APCC president Bhupen Bora tendered his resignation from the post of president of the opposition conglomerate today.
