Jorhat-Dibrugarh highway construction to be fast-paced, announces CM Sarma after review meeting with Nitin Gadkari

GUWAHATI, Oct 22: Four-laning work of the Jorhat-to-Dibrugarh stretch of the national highway will be fast-paced on a priority basis, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today (Oct 22).

Chief Minister Sarma, flanked by Union Minister Pabitra Margherita and Darrang-Udalguri Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia, took to social media, and in the video message streamed live on Facebook, said construction work of the highway will be accelerated on a priority basis in the coming months.

Chief Minister Sarma, accompanied by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State for External Affairs and Textile Pabitra Margherita, and Darrang-Udalguri MP Dilip Saikia, took part in a comprehensive review meeting to assess 57 National Highway projects spanning 1001 km in Assam.

The meeting was chaired by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

With the rainy season over, Chief Minister Sarma said special emphasis was laid on early completion of the Jorhat-Dibrugarh stretch of the National Highway.
