GUWAHATI, Oct 16: Former Chelsea Manager Thomas Tuchel has been named the new manager of England’s men’s national team. He will become Gareth Southgate’s permanent successor from January, 2025.

The 51-year-old German, who had previously also managed Mainz, Dortmund, PSG and Bayern Munich, has signed an 18-month contract with the English FA.

Tuchel becomes the third non-British permanent manager of the men’s team after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

“I am very proud to have been given the honour of leading the England team. I have long felt a personal connection to the game in this country, and it has given me some incredible moments already. To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting,” Tuchel said after his appointment.
