GUWAHATI, Oct 15: Congress and BJP activists came to blows and fisticuffs as pre-poll violence rocked Samaguri which will go to by-polls, dates of which are likely to be announced later today.
BJP leaders and members accused the Congress party and its activists of targeting them first.
They accused Rakibul Hussain, former Samaguri MLA who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Dhubri in this year’s general elections, of targeting and threatening BJP leaders and activists.
While many people from both camps were injured in the melee, a number of vehicles were also damaged.
