GUWAHATI, Oct 13: Manipur Police on Saturday arrested two active members of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, commonly known as the PREPAK, an armed Manipuri insurgent group demanding a separate and independent homeland.
The arrested duo has been identified as Irungbam Nganba Meitei (34) and Haobijam Sanathoi Singh alias Tomthin (18) from Imphal West District.
Manipur Police said they were involved in extortion from various showrooms at Imphal.
Two mobile handsets and a two-wheeler along with a driving license have been recovered from the possession of the arrested PREPAK members. It may be mentioned here that Manipur Police arrested 121 people directly involved in extortion cases while over 250 underground and gang members involved in such activities since last year.
