GUWAHATI, Oct 10: The final rites of veteran industrialist and philanthropic Ratan Tata were performed with full State honours at a crematorium in Worli, Mumbai, on Thursday evening.
The former Tata Sons Chairman was given a ceremonial guard of honour by the Mumbai Police after his mortal remains were brought to the crematorium for the final rites.
Home Minister Amit Shah was among the many high-profile dignitaries to pay their final respects to Ratan Tata.
The Union Home Minister was accompanied by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputies, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patil, among others.
Earlier today, the mortal remains of Ratan Tata lay in state, wrapped in the national flag, at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Nariman Point, before his body was transported to the crematorium.
