No wonder the President of the United States, Donald Trump narrowly escaped death after he was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks who allegedly attempted to assassinate Trump had always been a “terrible shooter”, said one of his former classmate.
20-year-old Crooks was shot dead by law enforcement for allegedly attempting to kill Trump.
Crooks’ high school counsellor and classmates were surprised by his actions. Some of his former classmates revealed that he had a history of poor shooting skills and also had inappropriate behaviour.
“He could not shoot at all. He was a terrible shooter,” said one of his former classmate said.
Thomas Matthew Crooks was even rejected from his high school rifle team due to his poor aim and off-colour jokes and was a loner who often showed up to class dressed like a hunter and said terrifying things, said his former classmate, a current captain of the team told media.
Jameson Murphy, another former classmate said, “Crooks was such a comically bad shot he was unable to make the team and left after the first day.”
“He was super smart. That is what really kind of threw me off was, this was, like, a really, really smart kid, like he excelled. Nothing crazy ever came up in any conversation,” said another former classmate of Crooks.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating the incident as a potential act of domestic terrorism. In addition, investigators are piecing together Crooks’ history and motivations and looking into security procedures to stop such occurrences from happening in the future.
