Assam seemingly has become one of the key transit points for drugs peddling to various parts of the country as well as in the state itself. The seriousness of the situation can be gauged from the very fact that narcotics worth over Rs 100 crore in just a week since June 12.
But the strict vigil of Assam Police has time and again foiled numerous attempts to transport drugs through the state.
In the latest seizure, drugs worth Rs 48 crore have been seized during 2 separate operations in Karbi Anglong and Sivasagar districts.
In Sivasagar the police recovered a heroin consignment worth Rs 40 crore and apprehended 2 persons in connection with the case.
On the other hand, in Karbi Anglong the police seized 8.033 kg morphine worth Rs 8 crore and aprrehended a person.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa lauded the police for their relentless crackdown on drugs smuggling.

On June 16, 30000 Yaba tablets was seized from a vehicle in a joint operation by the police and the BSF in Karimganj district. 2 persons were arrested.
In a joint operation by @karimganjpolice and BSF G Branch, Karimganj, 30,000 YABA tablets valued at ₹9cr was seized from a vehicle.

On June 14, acting on specific inputs Cachar Police seized 21,000 Yaba tablets were seized by the Cachar Police from an inter-state border area. The consignment was worth Rs 6 crore. 3 persons were arrested.
Based on secret inputs, @cacharpolice carried a special operation in an inter-state border area and apprehended 3 people who were in possession of 21,000 YABA tablets worth ₹6cr. The consignment was brought from a neighbouring State.

On June 12, in one of the biggest drug seizures in Assam, 2,20,000 YABA tablets worth Rs 66cr was seized from a vehicle and 3 drug peddlers were arrested by the Karbi Anglong police.
