ongress MP Gaurav Gogoi won the Lok Sabha seat from Jorhat constituency.
Gaurav went up against BJP’s Topon Kumar Gogoi in the first phase of Lok Sabha election in Assam which was held on April 19.
In the final tally, Gaurav received with 7,517,71 votes. Topon Kumar Gogoi received 6,073,78 votes.
Gogoi won with a margin of 1,44,393.
Following delimitation, Gaurav, the Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, was assigned the task of taking on the BJP in Jorhat, which became a stronghold of the ruling party over the last 10 years.
