Prime Minister Narendra Modi today stock of the situation in Northeast after rain and heavy landslides have battered the region due to the impact of cyclone Remal. The Prime Minister assured all assistance from the Centre to the respective state governments in overcoming the emerging challenges and restoration works.
Expressing solidarity with those affected by the natural disaster, PM Modi in a post on X wrote, “Unfortunately, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and West Bengal have witnessed natural disasters in the aftermath of Cyclone Remal. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been affected there. Took stock of the prevailing situation. The Central Government has assured all possible support to the states and is continuously monitoring the situation. Officials are working on the ground to assist those affected.”

Prior to this Union Home Minister Amit Shah briefed Prime Minister Modi about the situation in the most affected Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.
Shah in a post on social media informed that the Centre is closely monitoring the situation.

Our thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones and prayers with those injured for a speedy recovery. The situation is being closely monitored and authorities are providing all possible assistance to the affected.”

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for extending his support in these challenging times.
In a post on X, CM Sarma wrote, “Thank you for your support Hon’ble Prime Minister. Thank you for your support Hon’ble Prime Minister. While Cyclone Remal has caused significant impact in Assam, I’m confident that with the Centre’s active support, we will be able to overcome this situation and provide necessary support to our people.”

Manipur CM N Biren Singh has also thanked PM Modi for his prompt support to deal with the situation.
