Around 67 per cent votes were cast in the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Kaziranga, Dibrugarh and Sonitpur in Assam till 3 pm on Friday.
Sonitpur recorded a turnout of 71.39 per cent, followed by 70.65 per cent in Jorhat, 69.42 per cent in Lakhimpur, 68.75 per cent in Kaziranga, and 69.22 per cent in Dibrugarh.
The polling, which began at 7 am, would continue till 5 pm.
A total of 40,004 polling personnel are engaged in the first phase, with a posse of security personnel from state and central forces.
A total of 86,47,869 voters will decide the fate of 35 candidates in these five seats.
