GUWAHATI, March 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a cut of ₹ 100 in prices of domestic LPG cylinders with the announcement coming on the occasion of international women’s day.
The decision, Prime Minister Modi stated in a tweet on ‘X’, “will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti”.
The reduction in prices is being widely hailed with the revised prices slated to come into effect beginning midnight.
“By making cooking gas more affordable, we also aim to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment. This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them,” PM Modi wrote on ‘X’.
With today’s reduction in prices, a subsidized LPG cylinder in Guwahati will cost a consumer ₹ 852.
Today’s cut comes after the Central Government on Thursday announced the extension of ₹ 300 per LPG cylinder subsidy to women from economically weaker families under the Ujjwala Yojana for the next fiscal beginning April 1.
