GUWAHATI, Jan 28: JD(U) chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Sunday tendered his resignation saying that the state of affairs within the ruling alliance in the State was not good.
Submitting his resignation to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Raj Bhavan in Patna, Nitish Kumar said: “Today, I have resigned as the chief minister and I have also told the Governor to dissolve the government in the state.”
“This situation came because not everything was alright… We have therefore decided to sever ties with the Mahagathbandhan. Today, the government has been dissolved,” Nitish Kumar said.
Nitish Kumar will continue as the Bihar caretaker chief minister until a new government – an alliance between the JD(U) and the BJP — is formed in the State.
The JD(U) chief, meanwhile, has staked his claim to for the new government with the BJP. The new government will have Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha as Deputy Chief Ministers and will take oath later this eveing.
Incidentally, Nitish Kumar had earlier snapped ties with the NDA in 2022 when he resigned as chief minister. He later joined the Mahagathbandhan with the RJD, Congress and the Left parties.
