Pakistan cricket star Shoaib Malik married popular Pakistani actor Sana Javed amid rumours of his separation with former India tennis player Sania Mirza. Shoaib Malik took to social media to share photos from their wedding ceremony on Saturday, January 20.
Shoaib Malik and Sana Javed were rumoured to be dating and the Pakistan cricketer added fuel to fire when he wished the Pakistan actor on her birthday last year. “Happy Birthday Buddy,” Shoiab Malik had written, sharing a photo of them together on his Instagram page.
Sana Javed also shared photos from their wedding ceremony on social media on Saturday. Fans of the star cricketer were taken aback as rumours of his separation had dominated headlines on both sides of the border.
Notably, Sana Javed also changed her name in the bio of her Instagram account, making it Sana Shoaib Malik.
Mirza and Malik have been living apart for over a year now, while co-parenting their five-year-old son, Izhaan.
In August, Malik made a significant change to his Instagram Bio, switching from “Husband to a superwoman Sania Mirza” to simply “Father to One True Blessing.” This alteration once again left fans questioning whether he had divorced Mirza or not.
Rumors of trouble in their paradise have been circulating since last year, ever since Malik’s photoshoot with Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar raised eyebrows in both countries.
The cross-border marriage of Mirza and Malik in 2010 added a distinctive element to their public image, showcasing the ability of sports to transcend boundaries and unite people.
