Leave after fog subsides, return before sunset: Assam CM asks picnic revelers following Dergaon accident

Hours after the deadly accident in Assam’s Golaghat district which claimed the lives of at least 12 people, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma instructed that picnic buses should leave only after sunrise and should return before sunset.

Further CM Sarma asserted that at 4:30 AM in the morning due to fog nothing can be seen hence people should refrain from starting so early for picinc.

Often accident cases are reported wherein the buses collide due to invisibility before sunrise or due to darkness post-sunset.

CM Sarma also expressed anguish at the horrific bus accident in Dergaon and offers his condolences to the bereaved families.

He has offered his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. 

Earlier today, 14 people lost their lives while 27 others were left injured in an accident wherein a bus with picnic goers collided with a truck in Assam’s Dergaon area.

The incident took place at around 05:00 AM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2,00,000 to the next kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured.
