An incident of firing has been reported from Tinsukia district along the Assam-Arunachal inter-state border.
As per inputs, 3 youths were allegedly on their way to join the ULFA-I when they were intercepted by a team of Assam Police.
The firing incident is suspected to have occurred at Dirak in Kakopathar locality of Assam’s Tinsukia district.
An exchange of gunfire ensued, in which all 3 youths sustained bullet injuries on their legs.
The trio has been admitted to hospital for treatment.
This incident comes just hours after the Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh shared a post through social media. Taking to X, Singh wrote, “Anyone willing to join or support any terrorist group banned by the government will be arrested and prosecuted according to law. Please be careful about what you write about banned organizations on social media.”
Earlier this week, the ULFA-I had clarified that the Assam Police have been arresting innocent people in the name of the outlawed group to hide its own failure.
In a press statement, ULFA-I stated that the youths apprehended from across the state in suspicion of being involved in the recent multiple grenade attacks are not linked with the outfit, rather it is just an attempt to conceal their failure.
