India 8-0 Pakistan: Rohit Sharma’s Men Keep Cricket World Cup Dominance Intact With 7-Wicket Win

PUBLISHED:

India maintained the clean sheet over Pakistan in the ODI World Cup history with a seven-wicket win over the side in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

This was India’s record-extending 8th win over their arch-rivals at the mega event. India’s bowling attack contributed equally as the side bundled out Pakistan for 191 runs after skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first.

Babar Azam (50) and Mohammad Rizwan (49) looked promising but other Pakistan batters failed to impress. For India, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj scalped two wickets each. In reply, Rohit’s blazing 86-run knock and Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 53 guided India home.

India extended their 100% winning run against Pakistan in ODI World Cup history to eight matches. India dismissed Pakistan for 191 and chased down the target in 30.3 overs, driven by captain Rohit Sharma’s 86(63).

India captain Rohit Sharma seems to have picked up from where he left off against Afghanistan and got India off to a flying start in their chase after Pakistan collapsed to 191 all out. He scored 39 runs off 24 balls.

Shubman Gill made a bright start in his first innings since recovering from dengue. He scored 16 in 11 balls before falling to Shaheen Afridi. Kohli was also looking good before falling to Hasan Ali, leaving Shreyas Iyer in the middle with Rohit.

Earlier, India staged a stunning comeback in the middle over to bowl Pakistan out for 191. Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets each as Pakistan lost eight wickets from 155/2 for just 39 runs.
