In a breakthrough, the Assam Police arrested four individuals in connection with the gruesome murder of a retired engineer Javed Ali Ahmed that occurred in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area.
The three accused were nabbed during an operation conducted by Hatigaon police at Baghbor area of Barpeta district.
Another individual was nabbed from Tetelirtal area in the district.
According to sources, dispute over a land owned by Javed Ali Ahmed in Barpeta led to the murder.
Meanwhile, further probe is underway.
The murder of Javed Ali Ahmed, a retired engineer, at Friends Path in Guwahati’s Hatigaon locality took place in the early hours of July 27, 2023 while he was on his way to the mosque in the early.
Reportedly he was hit by an iron rod.
