PM Modi Calls Odisha Train Accident ‘Extremely Painful’, Assures Strict Action After Meeting Survivors

PM Narendra Modi today visited the Odisha train accident site along with Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dharmendra Pradhan.

Modi spoke to the press after inspecting the site of one of the country’s worst train disasters at Bahanaga in Odisha’s Balasore district and meeting victims at Balasore Hospital.

He and the other ministers also visited a hospital where the injured are being treated.

The PM said, “”It’s a painful incident. Govt will leave no stone unturned for the treatment of those injured. It’s a serious incident, instructions issued for probe from every angle. Those found guilty will be punished stringently. Railway is working towards track restoration. I met the injured victims.”

“I do not have words to express the pain. Let Almighty give us strength to overcome this situation,” the PM said at the accident site.

“Stringent action will be taken against those found guilty in the train accident incident. No one will be spared,” Modi said.

Modi spoke to media after at the site of one of the country’s worst train disasters at Bahanaga in Odisha’s Balasore district.

The govt will give the best possible treatment to those injured, the PM promised. He also expressed his gratitude to locals who helped with rescue efforts.

From the site, Modi spoke to the Cabinet Secretary and Health Minister, asking them to ensure that all help needed is provided to the injured and their families, news agency PTI reported citing officials.

The PM also inquired about the progress of restoration work launched at the mishap site.

Special care must be taken to ensure that the bereaved families don’t face inconvenience and that those affected keep getting the assistance they require, the PM said.

After visiting the accident site, Modi had interactions with Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallik as well as the local police chief.

Before travelling to Odisha,the PM had presided over a high-level meeting in New Delhi on the accident.
