Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the death of actor-comedian Raju Srivastava, who breathed his last on Wednesday at the age of 58.
The Prime Minister took to Twitter to say that the comedian brightened people’s lives with laughter and positivity. “Raju Srivastava brightened our lives with laughter, humour and positivity. He leaves us too soon but he will continue to live in the hearts of countless people thanks to his rich work over the years. His demise is saddening. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.” PM Modi tweeted.

Earlier, PM Modi had spoken to spoken to the comedian’s wife, Shikha Srivastava, and had assured her full help in treatment.
Raju had suffered a heart attack while working out at the gym on August 10 following which he was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi. He had suffered severe brain damage after the cardiac arrest, and had remained unconscious and under observation at the hospital since then.
He was in a critical condition and was on ventilator support. He was being treated by the AIIMS team doctors of the Cardiology and Emergency Department, led by Dr Nitish Nyay. As per AIIMS sources, Srivastava suffered a cardiac arrest while working out at the gym and was brought to the hospital by his trainer. The comedian was given CPR twice to resuscitate his heart.
The comedian’s last rites will be held on Thursday in the national capital.
Other leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, took to Twitter to condole the comedian’s death.
“I am deeply saddened by the death of renowned comedian Raju Srivastava. Apart from being an accomplished artist, he was also a very lively person. He was also very active in the social spheres. I extend my condolences to his bereaved family and fans. Shanti,” Rajnath Singh tweeted in Hindi.
Yogi Adityanath also extended his condolences to Raju’s family.” Raju Srivastava is no more with us. I, on behalf of the people of UP, pray that his soul rests in peace,” he tweeted.
