Additionally, essential items including food and medicines have also been airdropped in the district.

Notably, Assam Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan will be visiting Dima Hasao today along with Bimal Bora, as per the directions of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

While there have been inconveniences in road communication, the administration, particularly the PWD has managed to reopen the Maibong tunnel.

Meanwhile, the state is witnessing massive destruction in other parts. The ravaging impact of the floods has washed away bridges and embankments.

In Cachar, keeping the gravity of the situation in mind, the district authorities have issued some restrictions for the people. The district authorities have directed all educational institutes to remain closed.

The Cachar DC said that the order would remain in force in the district till the situation improves.

Likewise, in Assam’s Sipajhar, floods continue to wreak havoc for the third day. Areas such as Patharighat and Sipajhar town have been severely affected, with prime roads being damaged in the floodwaters. Communication too has been severely disrupted.
