Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to retain power in Manipur as the party is leading in 28 seats, while the Congress is leading in 9. National People’s Party (NPP) is also leading in 9 seats and JDU in 4 seats.
As the counting of the votes for the Manipur Assembly Elections is underway, incumbent Chief Minister N Biren Singh of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won from the Heingang constituency against Congress rival P Sharatchandra Singh with nearly 18,000 votes.
National People’s Party (NPP)’s Khuraijam Loken Singh registered a victory from Wangoi Constituency and N. Kayisii from Tadubi Assembly Constituency.
The fate of 265 candidates vying for the 60 Assembly seats in the state will be known later in the afternoon.
