Northeast Covid scenario: Cases dip in Assam, Manipur ; Meghalaya and Tripura sees spike

Assam reported a significant dip in COVID cases in the last 24 hours, with a total of 1,951 fresh cases. This marks a significant dip in COVID cases since the previous day, as earlier the state had reported about 4,189 cases. Kamrup Metropolitan district also witnessed a noticeable dip in cases, with just 422 new cases in the last 24 hours. The new tally has brought the state’s COVID positivity rate down to 9.85 percent. This puts the active caseload of Assam at 36,063.

Meanwhile, Assam reported a total of 21 Covid related deaths in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, a total of 7,365 patients were discharged after attaining recovery. This puts the recovery rate 93.79 percent. 

Meghalaya reported 392 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours. This has taken the active COVID tally to 2,494. Moreover, four fresh deaths have also been reported from the state, taking the death toll to 1,503. Total 254 patients recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours. 

Meanwhile, the number of new cases in Manipur fell slightly today, with the state reporting 388 new cases in the last 24 hours. With this; the state’s current positivity rate now stands at 16.2%, while the tally of active cases stands at 1,300. Besides, the state also reported 3 new COVID deaths, taking the death toll to 2,034 in Manipur.

Tripura registered 391 new COVID cases. And with the detection of these fresh cases, the active tally has mounted to 7,727. Moreover 2 fresh deaths have also been reported from the state taking the death toll to 878. While the positivity rate in the state is 7.43 %, the recovery rate currently stands at 91.32 percent.
