Conference of AYUSH and Health Ministers of NE States held in Guwahati

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Union Minister of AYUSH and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal today attended the Conference of Health Ministers of North Eastern States for promoting and propagation of the AYUSH system of medicine under the theme “AYUSH at Your Service” at Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati. 

The vent was also attended by Union Minister of State for AYUSH Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, Health Minister of Assam Keshab Mahanta, Health Minister of Sikkim Dr. Mani Kumar Sarma and Health Minister of Nagaland S Pangnyu Phom and senior officials of Central government and North Eastern states.

CM  Sarma said that Ayush is our heritage and linAyushked with our civilization. Whatever way we can contribute to the Ayush system, will enrich our civilization.

The CM said the northeastern states have tremendous potential in the Ayush sector considering the rich bio-diversity and if developed in a systematic way, the region can be an Ayush hub in the future.

The Chief Minister also appreciated the role of Ayurvedic medicine in prophylactic and clinical management during the Covid period.

CM Sarma further said that the construction of Ayush Hospital at Dudhnoi is already complete and the hospital at Majuli would be completed soon.

The Chief Minister also said that presently Assam has one Ayurvedic College. Considering the potential of the region, the Chief Minister urged the Union Ayush Minister for granting approval for another Ayurvedic college, land for which has already been identified by the state government.
