Guwahati boy ‘held hostage in Jammu and Kashmir’

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: It seems militant organisations from Jammu and Kashmir are spreading their tentacles in Assam. In a recent incident, one Suruj Zamal from Garigaon, Guwahati has been reportedly held captive in Jammu and Kashmir by some miscreants. Zamal had left his home with one Pappu from Rangiya who lured him for a better job opportunity.

The plight of Zamal came to light after Pappu vanished mid-way and now Zamal called his parents regarding his captivity in Jammu and Kashmir. As per Zamal’s family, he is being held by some miscreants who are forcing him to join the terrorist organisation.

“On 14th June morning, I noticed he was missing from his room. The door was open and the bed was empty. He had left without telling us and we kept wondering. We tried calling him on his cell phone but it was switched off,” said his mother.

“Later he made video calls from different locations and later in one of the calls he mentioned Jammu and Kashmir and jungle and forceful detention in one of his calls,” said Zamal’s mother.

Over the past few years, a number of missing cases have been registered as youths are being misguided in the name of jobs and are recruited in militant organisations.

The family now in great distress has sought help from the police. Police has already started the investigation and hopes to bring the victim back to his family.
