Nature Park to come up in Hengrabari, CM lays foundation

Guwahati:  Good news for residents of Guwahati as they can soon add up another place in their list to visit and enjoy nature amid the bustle and hustle of their busy life. 

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday laid the foundation stone of ‘Nature Park’ at the campus of Assam Khadi & Village Industries Board at Hengrabari in Guwahati.

The park would be built by GMDA on a plot of more than 14 bighas for a total cost of Rs 11.93 crore.

There would be a watchtower, cafeteria, children’s playing area, meditation centre, nursery, etc in the park.

CM Sarma said that the park would provide ample recreational opportunities to the residents of the area while fulfilling the requirement of open space in the city for all sections of people.

He also informed that the construction work would soon start for setting up Botanical Garden at the old jail campus at Fancy Bazaar while another park is being built at the Maligaon Housing Board site.

The Chief Minister also added that  Guwahati would be a city with lots of breathing spaces in the near future and informed about plans to set up a park at Chandmari on 26 bigha plot by shifting the Irrigation and Water Resource Dept buildings to Dispur.

Dr. Himanata Biswa Sarma said that steps would be taken to free lands from encroachers at Srishti Nagar, Amchang.

Minister Ashok Singhal, MP Queen Oja, MLA Atul Bora were also present on the occasion.
