GUWAHATI: A pall of gloom dwelt at Silchar SP office where the mortal remains of the 5 Assam Police personnel were brought for final tributes. The personnel were killed in a firing incident unleashed by Mizoram Police who used automatic weapons and LMGs to fire at the Assam Police personnel on Monday. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma paid his last tributes to the 5 martyrs.
The Assam Police personnel who were killed in the firing are SI Swapan Kr. Roy, Constable Liton Suklabaidya, Constable M.H. Barbhuyia, Constable N Hussain and Constable S Barbhuiya.
A total of 42 personnel including Superintendent of Police Cachar, Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant, IPS were injured in the firing. The injured were taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
