6-8 lakh people to attend PM Modi’s programme in Kokrajhar: Biswajit Daimary


GUWAHATI: Preparations are in full swing for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi programme to be held in Kokrajhar on 7th February. According to Rajya Sabha Member from Assam, Biswajit Daimary between 6-8 lakh people are expected to take part in the celebration. The programme has been jointly organised by the Assam Government and the Bodoland Territorial Council to celebrate the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord.

“Preparations are underway, 70% of work has been completed till now. We were expecting a crowd of 4 lakh people but according to fresh ground reports it seems 6-8 lakh people will attend the celebration. So expansion has been done accordingly,” said BPF’s Rajya Sabha member Biswajit Daimary.

Three helicopter landing sites have been prepared and successful trial landings have been conducted. Assam Police have tightened security in and around the area and five thousand police personnel will be present during the programme to maintain law and order.

“Two thousand All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) volunteers will be present in the event. We, the All Bodo Students’ Union thank PM Modi for delivering us the Bodo Territorial Region,” said Lawrence Islary, General Secretary, ABSU.

Islary also thanked PM Modi for the government’s announcement to set up three universities and NITs in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
