GUWAHATI, Jan 3: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 in the Richter Scale jolted Guwahati and other parts of Assam and the Northeast, forcing people to run out of their homes in panic.
The tremors were experienced at 10:02 am today with the epicentre in Mayanmar, the US Geological Survey reported.
Many people in Guwahati and other parts of Assam, particularly in the eastern, central and southern districts of the State, ran out of their houses in panic as the tremors caught people off-guard.
There has, however, been no reports of any casualties or injuries and damage to property following the tremors.
