4932 COVID-19 cases in Guwahati since June 24

GUWAHATI: Guwahati has reported 4932 COVID-19 positive cases since June 24. On Wednesday, 423 persons from Guwahati were found positive for COVID-19.

The city which is under 14-day lockdown registered 378 cases on July 1, 238 on July 2, 134 on July 3, 777 on July 4, 552 on July 5, 598 on July 6 and 588 on July 7. On July 4, with 777 COVID-19 positive cases, Guwahati witnessed the highest-single-day spike.

Reportedly, most of the cases in Guwahati are without any travel history.

However, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday stated in a tweet that the rate of the positive cases out of total daily tests conducted in Guwahati has decreased from 36% to 16% due to uncompromising observance of lockdown.

“I thank Guwahatians, civil administration and @assampolice for their cooperation and dedicated efforts,” Sonowal mentioned in his tweet.

The Assam government re-imposed lockdown in Guwahati on June 28 which will remain in force till July 12.
