GUWAHATI, Jan 5: At least four Maoists were killed while a policeman was martyred in a fierce gunbattle in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, reports said.
The encounter had broken out between security forces and naxals on Saturday evening in south Abujhmaad bordering Narayanpur and Dantewada districts of the State.
While the bodies of four Maoists were recovered from the encounter site today morning after the gun-battle ended, a police head constable, identified as Sannu Karam, laid down his life battling the naxals.
Security forces seized automatic weapons, including AK-47s, from the deceased Maoists.
