4 Assam teachers feature on NASA website

GUWAHATI: Four teachers from Assam have been featured as meteorite researchers on NASA website. The four teachers are Kankan Kishore Dutta of Bamunpukhuri Higher Secondary School in Jorhat district, Rajiv Ranjan Dhar of Rabindra Vidyapeeth ME School, Devasmita Pal of Gangacharan Dhanda Vidyaram ME School and Kuldeep Sensoa of Sarva Shiksha Mission, Guwahati.

The four teachers took part in NASA’s International Asteroid Search Campaign (IASC) and were successful in the research. So, their names were included in the NASA website as meteorite researchers.

According to sources, they collected space photos from the PAN STARRS telescope in Hawaii, USA and analysed them with the help of special computer programs, which were later submitted to the IASC. The four teachers were working in a team on behalf of VIPNET, an independent body under the Government of India.
