Two students were injured after a portion of a floor caved in at a school in Mangaldai town in Darrang district of Assam following the 4.9 magnitude earthquake that jolted Assam this morning.

A portion of the floor inside a classroom at Mangaldai Vidyapeeth caved in after the earthquake that injured two students: Hitesh Deka and Kapil Das. The incident led to chaos among students and teachers. Inferior construction has been blamed for the caving in of the floor.

Incidentally, the 4.9 magnitude earthquake jolted various parts of Assam, including Guwahati, at 10:24 am with the epicentre located 22 kilometres east southeast of Dhing, USGS reported.

The tremors that lasted for 10 seconds were strong enough, forcing panicky people to come out of their homes and offices.
