The stage is all set for the second phase of elections to be held in 97 constituencies spread over 12 States and a Union Territory. In Assam, polling will be held in five constituencies where a total of 50 candidates, including three women candidates, are in fray.
Voting will be held in 8,922 polling stations in the five constituencies of Karimganj, Silchar, Diphu, Nagaon and Mangaldoi.
A total of 69,10,592 voters — 35,544,60 male and 33,55,952 female — are eligible to cast their votes in the second phase in the State.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the five poll-bound constituencies. Polling personnel left for their respective polling stations in the five constituencies for the voting exercise.
