GUWAHATI, March 20: At least 22 Naxalites were killed in two separate encounters in Chhattisgarh, reports stated.
The two encounters broke out in Bijapur and Kanker districts of the State.
A Chhattisgarh District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was also martyred in one of the encounters, the reports added.
In the first incident, eighteen Naxalites and a police jawan were killed after an encounter broke out between Maoists and a joint team of the DRG, the STF and CRPF in the dense forests area along the Bijapur-Dantewada border.
The encounter began around 7 am today as heavy firing was reported between both sides.

Four Maoists were killed in another gunbattle in Chhotebethiya under Kanker district.
On the other hand, two security personnel were rescued after an improvised explosive device (IED) was set off by Maoists in Abujhmad area of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, police said.
